What is e-business and how is it related to e-commerce?

e-Business is the coming together of IT and web technologies in a way that presents new business possibilities. It is a fundamental change in the way business is being done, and it is difficult to fully predict how it will affect our lives. The problem form many businesses is knowing how and when to act. If you move to late you may find that your market has already been eroded by those who moved sooner. If you move early you take with you all the risks of being a pioneer - and many early a pioneer has ended up shot! e-Commerce is using web technologies to 'bolt on' an additional delivery channel - the Internet. For many companies this is a good (safe) first move into e-business. It can be a relatively low cost option that provides some experience of e-business issues. e-Business (done well) needs to fundamentally look at the way business is being done. It is not a 'bolt on', but a fundamental part of the business strategy.
